Innovations, diversity and cloud computing to drive wearables market

A new report by Research and Markets has found that innovations, cloud computing and diversity in applications will play key roles in the future of wearable technology.

The report found that innovations across the entire ecosystem will play a major role in the success of wearables. The ecosystem includes app developers, technology providers, software providers and original equipment manufacturers.

Cloud computing is also expected to play a major enabling technology among wearables. In order to leverage the potential of the cloud, however, devices will need ubiquitous online connectivity. The report also found that products with diverse applications will be more acceptable, with a large number of options unique to each application that are currently available.

Smartwatches will also prove disruptive to conventional watchmakers, with their advanced and additional functionality and similar form factors.

The report is titled 'Futuristic Outlook of Wearable Technology in Key Applications' and is focused not only on fitness tracking devices but also on other emerging wearable technologies. It looks into the possible future of wearables in the coming five-ten years, and future opportunities for growth.

The report also looks into the transformation potential of certain enabling technologies, strategic insights such as the possible interaction with technologies and impact of megatrends and the future outlook of applications.
